If you are diagnosed with a cavity, you may need a filling to block the further spread of decay and to restore the integrity of the tooth. Dr. Davis will take an impression of the tooth to be filled, and decide whether a direct or indirect filling is needed. A direct filling can be done on the spot. For an indirect filling, or onlay, the tooth impression is sent in for customized lab fabrication. The filling is carefully carved to recreate the natural curves of your tooth, placed in the hole, and hardened with a special light.
